The Top Ten Reasons to Participate in 'Charting Our Course'

Friday, Oct. 24, 2014

1. Easy access to Listening Sessions. Check the schedule in this week’s Intermountain Catholic (p. 18) and attend a nearby listening session.
2. Use a computer or smart phone. Go to PrayerfulPlanning.com and complete a Survey. It takes less than 20 minutes to complete.
3. Fill out a survey using the Intermountain Catholic (pp. 6-8 of this issue). Mail it to Office of Religious Education 27 C Street, SLC, UT 84103
4. Opinions matter.  Collected information is a source for planning in Utah’s Catholic Church.
5. Information is confidential. The questionnaire and the survey do not require a name or contact information. Copies of both documents are also available at each parish.
6. Listening sessions open up dialogue. Share opinions with others. Experience renewed hope and interest in the future of Utah’s Catholic community.
7. Help the Bishop and the Steering Committee understand the needs of parishes and missions. The Pastoral Planning Process is designed to name pressing issues and challenges within churches and to create strategies to meet new goals.
8. Build bridges between communities. The Catholic Church in Utah is experiencing rapid growth. Recent and long-standing members in parishes must work together to build unity and offer assessments of changes and challenges that lie ahead.
9. Discuss fair allocation of scarce resources. The People of God need to share human and material resources. Listening sessions identify issues and offer ideas that will help create a plan for the future.
10. Listening sessions are no more than 90 minutes long. Your time is valuable. Trained facilitators will move discussion along and respect time limits.
