TOOELE — Boy Scout Troop 604 at Saint Marguerite Parish, under the direction of Father Samuel Dinsdale, added seven Eagle Scouts this year. These scouts come from all types of religion, race, color and creed. They range in age from 13 to 18. Their names are Zach Bates, Darek Yei, Robbie Adair, Tristen Burgio, Dillon Bates, Bryan Jarrett and Parker Yei.

They worked hard to help each other achieve this rank. Five are members of the Order of the Arrow and four attended the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. Also, four of them have four consecutive years of year-round camping.

One of the requirements to obtain the rank of Eagle is to perform a service project. Zach, Dillon, Darek and Parker each took a loop in the Oasis campground at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes to install campsite markers for emergency purposes. They cut, processed, welded and prepared the pipe they would need for these markers. They required more than three years and 600 hours of service to complete the project.

Robbie Adair gathered, cut, and tied over 30 blankets for Primary Children’s Medical Center to help patients in need. With the help of his family and neighborhood he spent 35 hours completing his Eagle project.

Tristen Burgio had a large list of repairs at the Tooele Wig Wam (Scout cabin). From roofing to painting, he worked diligently to complete the project. He had lots of help from other members of Troop 604, as well as his parents and leaders. He spent 86 hours working on this project. Even after the project was passed off, Tristen continues to go to the Wig Wam to do maintenance repairs.

Bryan Jarrett, from the Stansbury Community Troop 1139, is one of the Scouts who attended the 2010 National Scout Jamboree with three other local Scouts. Bryan did a back-to-school clothes drive for underprivileged children in Tooele County, spending more than 31 hours gathering, sorting, packaging and distributing over 500 pounds of clothes. He is a member of the Order of The Arrow.

Erica Hope is Scout Master of Troop 604, with Assistant Scout Masters Mike Burgio, Dave Gonzales and Don Yei.
