July 22, 1930 ~ July 22, 2018

Our loving and beautiful mom, Vera Dominguez Hansen, was born July 22, 1930 in Pitkin, Colorado to Abel Joseph and Charlotte Siqueiros Dominguez. She left this earth exactly 88 years to the day from when she arrived. She was one of 11 children. Her family later moved to Ogden, Utah. In 1947 she graduated from Ogden High School, where she was in the Pep Club and a candy striper at St. Benedict’s Hospital.

She met the love of her life, LaVar V. Hansen from Bear River City, while working at the Shupe Williams Candy Factory. They married in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden on March 3, 1951. They had four daughters: Deborah (Ken) Werthmann, Rocky (Dave) Hess, Gail (Scott) Whitaker and Marge; and one son, Ty Hansen. They had nine precious grandchildren: Angie Ashton, Matt (Irene) Werthmann, Jamie Eyre (Scott), Brooke Whitaker, Colt Whitaker, Sheena (Jesse) Olsen, Tara Whitaker, Derek Whitaker, and Shilo (Geoff) Hansen; and 14 great-grandchildren: Austin, Nicole, Owen, Olivia, Ava, Nora, Kylee, Brayden, Ryah, Ryatt, Maddisen, Ridger, Lejind and Gavin.

Mom was an immaculate housekeeper. She enjoyed working in the neighbor’s green house for several years, then worked for La-Z-Boy in Tremonton until she retired.

Mom played on a ladies’ softball league for Bear River City for several years, grew a huge garden and canned bushels and bushels of fruits and vegetables. She made the best homemade bread and baked amazing pies and cinnamon rolls; she was an incredible cook. But the thing she loved doing the most was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Charlotte Koehler, Joe Dominguez, Mary (Tony) Aragon, Bob (Dena) Dominguez, Lorrie Akerson and Roma Dominguez; many nieces and nephews and innumerable friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, LaVar; and siblings and in-laws Joe and Bertha Martinez, Harold and LaPreal Dominguez, Henry Koehler, Bill Dominguez, Art and Helen Aragon, Bette Pebley and Warren Akerson.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment was at Ogden City Cemetery.

Our Mom was a gentle, patient, giving person and will be held close in our hearts until we are with her again. We love you, Mom!
