Virgil Albert Blair

SALT LAKE CITY — Virgil Albert Blair passed away Oct. 18, 2012, after he won the battle with leukemia, only to lose the war with ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Blair was born Nov. 26, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho to Wendell Lucherini Blair and Emma Genevieve Whitworth Blair.

Blair was the Salt Lake City Chapter chairman for the retirees of Local 3, and he worked for the Utah State Senate Security for 12 years, retiring as the Assistant Sergeant of Arms. He was a sweet, sincere, honest, compassionate man who always had a deep laugh and a twinkle in his eye.

Blair is survived by wife Paulette; children Troy (Carol), Vance, Brian, Wendy, Teresa; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Julia Fay Winn; son Barry and stepson Sgt. Todd Smit.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
