Father Abdallah Zaidan from Our Lady of Mount Lebanon in Los Angeles will lead the Evening Prayer during the Feb. 9 celebration at Saint Jude Maronite Church. After the ceremony he will share a message about the Synod of Bishops in Rome, where the presence of Christians in the Middle East was discussed. Fr. Abdallah attended the Synod in Rome this past year. The Congregation of Maronite Lebanese Missionaries’ mission consists in serving the Maronite Church through the observance of the evangelical counsels: chastity, poverty and obedience, spreading the Good News of the Gospel, and taking care of the spiritual education of the Maronites. Father Abdallah was ordained priest on July 20, 1986 by his Beatitude Nasrallah Peter Sfeir. He is the Protopresbyter for the Southwestern Region of the diocese and he serves on different diocesan boards and committees. He was nominated to participate at the Patriarchal Maronite Synod held between 2003-2005 and he chaired the translation of its documents to the English language. He was also appointed to participate in the Synod of Bishops for the Christians of the Middle East, which was held at the Vatican Oct. 10-24, 2010.
