About 20 people gathered at Christ the King Parish in Cedar City on April 9 to hear Utah State geologist and Christ the King parishioner Bill Lund explain the reality of Utah’s water supplies: where it comes from and how it is used. The group also considered the implications of population growth and water ethics. Father Rick Sherman, parochial vicar, gave a short introduction to the talk with a reflection on the sacramentality of water and the moral implications of its stewardship as understood by Catholic teachings. The presentation was a joint effort between the Stewardship Committee and the Knights of Columbus at the parish. Care of Creation is one of the major themes of Catholic social teaching that has been reviewed in the past few months at the local Knights of Columbus assembly meetings. The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree level emphasis on  patriotism and Catholic social teachings helps Catholics share their wisdom more effectively in the public square and wherever morals and ethics are considered.
