SANDY — Middle School students from Blessed Sacrament Catholic School attended the Teton Science Schools in Jackson, Wyo., Sept. 6-9. Since 1967 Teton Science Schools has offered science programs that promote scientific literacy. The Blessed Sacrament students explored Grand Teton National Park and engaged in team building and field science activities. This included investigation of community ecology and abiotic and biotic elements in the Yellowstone ecosystem. The students investigated the geology of the Yellowstone ecosystem and debated issues such as water resources in the west. "Each day started with prayer and reflection," said Jeanne Lindmar, middle school science teacher. "It was heartwarming to see the students’ spirituality grow in relation to their appreciation to the outdoors and environment. We appreciated the community building experience that we were able to share with them and the bonding that took place among all students and faculty. The academic side of this experience was phenomenal due to the hands-on experiences and the setting of the school. We could see the students’ love of learning as they engaged in all activities."
