Ida Martinez Bittmenn

July 13, 1939 ~ October 30, 2025
Ida Martinez Bittmenn died on October 30, 2025 after a long battle with multiple illnesses. Born in San Cristobal, New Mexico, she and her family moved to the Tooele Valley in the late 1940s, when Ida was a young girl. She grew up in Deseret and Tooele, graduated from Tooele High in 1956, and studied at LDS Business College.
While working at Dugway Proving Ground, she met Joseph Bittmenn; they were married in 1965 and made their home in Tooele. When their boys were safely in school, Ida worked in the front office of Tooele High School. After decades of service and joy, she retired. She enjoyed gathering with her coworkers long after retirement.
Ida prayed and served in St. Marguerite Catholic Church in Tooele for the majority of her life. There she found lifelong friends, and she delighted in their company until the day she died. Ida was a quiet person who treasured her friends, their lunches, their book clubs and their trips to Pioneer Memorial Theater and the Hale Theater. She lived for gatherings of her extended family and shared their successes and mourned their sorrows. Declining health caused a move in 2024 to Cedar City to be closer to her immediate family.
Ida was a private person. She had a talent for small, meaningful gestures that spoke volumes. Life is poorer without her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jose (Tony) and Mary Martinez as well as her brother Silviano Martinez. She is survived by her husband Joseph; her sons David, Mark (Michelle) and Paul (Carrie); her sister Evila Perrone; her grandchildren Victoria (Austin), Ellyn (Caleb), Zachary and Nichola; and her great-granddaughter Allie.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on November 7, 2025 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cedar City.
May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
