SALT LAKE CITY — "I am so excited to welcome you all here today as we open our two new playgrounds," said Betsy Hunt, J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School principal. The playgrounds were dedicated Oct. 19. "I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Philip and Sandy McCarthey and Maureen McCarthey, Philip’s sister, who donated $50,000 for our new playground equipment, and Craig and Roger Dean of A. J. Dean, who donated the concrete" said Hunt. "The first playground was specially designed for two-year olds, and the second, which was a little more expansive, was designed for 3- to 5-year-olds. The Tuff Shed, donated by Bob and Lana Martino, will be used to store tricycles, big wheels, and other playground equipment." Father William Wheaton, pastor of St. Ambrose Parish, blessed the new playground and the new equipment before the students anxiously started playing on it and having a good time.
