During 2016, the Knights of Columbus raised $7,500 for the Bishop's vocations fund; State Deputy Andy Airriess presented the check to Bishop Oscar A. Solis during the awards banquet.

On May 6, the Knights of Columbus Utah State Council presented awards and scholarships during their 110th Utah State Convention. Every year the Knights of Columbus recognize outstanding projects undertaken by councils throughout the state and give college scholarships to deserving students. They also honor one individual Knight and an exemplary family. Following is a list of this year’s awards and their recipients.

Utah Knights of Columbus and the Columbia Society scholarships: Foster Dennin, Carlos Bessaro and Reagan Root

To Be a Patriot Award: Rev. Robert C. Pollock, Assembly 3586 of Bountiful and Salt Lake; and Padre Pio, Assembly 2636 of Park City and eastern Salt Lake County

Culture of Life Award: “Help for the Pregnancy Help Center,” Corpus Christi Council 6966, Sandy

Council Activity Award: “Friday Night Charity,” Bishop Hunt Council 5214, Kearns

Youth Activity Award: “Juvenile Youth Service Program,” Bishop Hunt Council 5214, Kearns

Family Activity Award: “All Souls Day,” Our Lady of Lourdes Council 9731, Magna

Community Activity Award: “Coats for Kids,” Fr. Joseph Valine Council 11246, Cedar City

Church Activity Award: “Bingo Builds a Parish Family,” St. Olaf Council 5502, Bountiful

Family of the Year: The Bill and Natalie Kelly family of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Council 12181, Sandy

Knight of the Year: Todd Holzhauser, St. Thomas More Council 11479, Sandy
