The Knights of Columbus Council 6010 of Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Layton held its annual Easter Egg hunt April 23. The hunt started at 10 a.m. with five age groups. Gathering prizes, chocolate and plastic eggs from Saint Rose parishioners started months ago; the parishioners came through with 7,500 eggs for the event. The Easter Bunny showed up about 30 minutes before the hunt to pass out candy and take pictures with all of the children. When the whistle blew, more than 700 children flooded Layton Park to look for eggs. If they were lucky and found one of the grand prize eggs (four per age group) they received a giant stuffed animal. After the children collected the eggs, Monsignor Victor Bonnell (shown), Saint Rose pastor, and Deacons Willis Bassett and John Weis passed out stuffed animals to the little children, to ensure everyone walked away happy.
