HOLLADAY — Five Catholic elementary school bands will come together under one roof to perform a variety of songs at the first Band Festival April 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, 1385 Spring Lane, Holladay. The Catholic schools participating are all pre-k through eighth grade, and will include St. Vincent de Paul School, St. John the Baptist School, St. Joseph Elementary School, Blessed Sacrament School, and J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School. In the morning, the school bands will be broken into sectional (instrument groups) for a short rehearsal. They will then gather together in a massive band for the "Band Festival." Each band will play a selection, then all bands will play one piece together. It is anticipated that almost 200 students will be performing that day. Music not only contributes to the school and community environments but encourages teamwork and cohesiveness.
