Anna Marie Gillespie
August 28, 1938 ~ July 7, 2025
Anna Marie Montoya Gillespie, 86, of Eureka, passed from this world July 7, 2025 at her home. She was born August 28, 1938 in Ault, Colorado to Jeremias and Rebecca Mata Montoya.
She married George Thomas Gillespie, Sr. on September 12, 1959 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eureka, Utah. To this union were born four children who brought her much joy.
Anna was a kind, loving woman who will be missed by all. She was a dedicated parishioner and volunteer of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was always eager to lend a helping hand. She was a lifetime member of the Tintic LOE, member of Eureka Senior Citizens, and a member of Santaquin Senior Citizens. She was an avid bowler and member of a league – with the trophies to prove it. She loved to sew and bake and always shared the delicious baked goods with others. When her children were young, they each had the pleasure of having their beloved mother as room mother at school. Anna was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandma and gram-gram.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, her son Vincent Lee Gillespie, grandson Chase T. Hellman, her brother Jerry Montoya, her brother-in-law Robert Hardman, her daughter-in-law Brenda Gillespie and a granddaughter Tonya Lake.
She is survived by her siblings Carolyn, Kathy (Tom) Young and Robert Montoya; sister-in-law Grace Montoya; and children Joanie (Kent) Lambson, Jeanie (Rick) Hopes, Tom Gillespie, all of Eureka. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the hospice support team, who provided loving care – especially Samantha, Julieann and Shayla.
Services were held July 10, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eureka.
