Perpetual Adoration Chapel — 24 hours each day at Saint Joseph Parish, 506 24th St., Ogden. Time can be spent with Our Lord in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament each day. All are welcome! Judge Memorial Placement Exam — for incoming ninth graders for the 2011-2012 school year will be held on Saturday, Jan. 8. Pre-registration is required by Jan. 7, no later than 3:30 p.m. The make-up exam date is Saturday, Jan. 22. National Catholic Youth Choir call — Catholic students entering 10th through 12th grade in the fall of 2011 are encouraged to come to the NCYC camp June 14-28, 2011 at Saint John’s Abbey and University in Collegeville, Minn. The cost is $900, and scholarships are available by applying online at www.CatholicYouthChoir.org. Applications are due before March 7. Holy Hour and Mass — Dec. 31 at 11 p.m. followed by Mass at midnight at Saint Patrick Parish, 1040 West 400 South, Salt Lake City. We will have a holy hour to celebrate the coming of the new year. Everyone is welcome.

Socks and glove drive — The Cathedral of the Madeleine youth group is collecting new or gently used socks and gloves for the Good Samaritan Program each Sunday through January after the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Masses in the vestibule of the Cathedral. Items may also be dropped off at the Cathedral rectory Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 331 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City.

Catholic veterans — The Catholic War Veterans of the USA must continue its work for God, country and home to face the challenges of this new century. Therefore the Archdiocese of the Military Services is looking for Catholic veterans to organize a post and become active with them to support our Church with the Catholic Action Program and emphasize patriotism for parishioners. J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School Open House - Sunday, Jan. 9 from noon to 2 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 25 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 2335 Redondo Ave, Salt Lake City. Join J.E. Cursillistas invited to a meeting — Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at Saint Olaf Parish in the rectory meeting room, 276 East 1700 South, Bountiful. Parking is available in Saint Olaf School Parking lot at 1800 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful. A small group of Cursillistas in the Diocese of Salt Lake City is working to reestablish the local Cursillo which has been inactive for some years. If you have made your Cursillo, come and support this group.

Wasatch Deanery meeting — Saturday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. at Saint Therese Parish, 7832 Allen St., Midvale. Father Martin Diaz, dean of the Wasatch Deanery, is asking lay pastoral leaders from each parish in the deanery to provide input for the agenda for the Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) meeting, to take place the following week. The DPC offers advice to Bishop Wester regarding various matters within the diocese; previous agenda items have included immigration, vocations, stewardship and missions. La Pietá — A full-size replica of Michelangelo’s La Pietà is on display through Dec. 31 in the lobby of St. Mark’s Hospital, 1200 East 3900 South. The original is in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome; replica is licensed by the Vatican Observatory Foundation. Visitors are welcome to view it.

Correction — In Dec.17 issue of the Intermountain Catholic in the story Militia Immaculata brings cheer to elderly during Advent, on page 6; it stated Father Maximilian Kolbe died at age 47 on Aug.14, 1947. He died on Aug.14, 1941. The Intermountain Catholic apologizes for any confusion this may have caused.
