Class on Catholic Dogma — Patience Kabamba, an anthropology professor at Utah Valley University, is offering a series of classes on the role of dogma in the Catholic faith. These one-hour classes will continue at 7 p.m. on Mondays, Nov. 28 in the Dominguez Room of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church’s classroom building, 65 East 500 North, Orem. Diocesan Advent Retreat — Saturday, Dec. 3, 9-noon at Saint John the Baptist Parish, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. The bilingual retreat, “Forgiveness and Reconciliation: Preparing for the Coming of the Lord,” will be presented by Fr. Gustavo Vidal, pastor of St. Mary Parish. Cost: $5 by Nov. 28; $8 at the door. Youth Group Pancake Breakfast — Sunday, Dec. 4 in the Cathedral of the Madeleine basement, 309 E. South Temple, SLC after the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses. Proceeds support the inter-parish youth group of the Cathedral of the Madeleine and St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center, to send them to the L.A. Youth Congress. Suggested donation is $5 per person, $10 per family.

The St. George Women’s Group — is collecting new and used stuffed animals, warm scarves, gloves and hats for the children of the Beryl Catholic community. The Saint Paul’s Women’s group has joined their efforts. Any items (or funds) may be brought to the church.
