Annual Diocesan Lenten Retreat — Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Saint Thomas More Parish, 3015 East Creek Road, Sandy. Dominican Father Wayne A. Cavalier, PhD will be the retreat master for a day of prayer. The theme is "Not as People See Does God See," taken from 1 Samuel 16:7. The retreat is open to all adults and will include morning praise, a catered luncheon and Eucharist. The first 100 people to register will receive a copy of "Not By Bread Alone," daily reflections for Lent by Bishop Robert F. Morneau. 49er Club activities — Mass Sunday, April 3 at 7:45 a.m. at Saint Ambrose Church, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, followed by breakfast at C.J.’s at 900 East 3900 South, Salt Lake City. To make reservations, call Joan Byrd at 801-278-4396. Thursday, April 14, at 1:45 p.m. is a club meeting at St. Ambrose in the social hall. Friday, April 15 we’ve planned a trip to Wendover. Children can volunteer — The Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank in Ogden now has opportunities for families to introduce their children to volunteering. We can facilitate families with younger children, 5 to 12 years old, during one of our family sessions on Thursday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and one Saturday a month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parents must accompany their children during these sessions. Saint Mary Parish offers a movie — Friday, April 15, at 6 p.m. is "The Passion of the Christ" at St. Mary Parish, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. There will be a Q & A with Father Gustavo Vidal, pastor, during intermission. The Snack Shack will sell refreshments. St Mary Teen Ministry will provide babysitting during the shows, so call Lisa Mendez with questions on Kids 4 Kash babysitting at 801-928-4691. The gift shop carries Passion of the Christ articles. Seating is limited, so reserve your seats by calling 801-621-7961. "The Passion of the Christ" is rated R; no one under 18 will be allowed without a parent.

Organ concert — March 26, at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Parish, 1100 East, 5550 South, Ogden. John L. Blackburn, organist and choirmaster at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beeville, Texas, will perform. The program will include works by Bach, Buxtehude, Messiaen, and others. This concert is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged.

Boy Scout Food Drive — Saturday, March 26 by 9 a.m. Help stock the shelves at Catholic Community Services’ Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank in Ogden, the Utah Food Bank and pantries statewide. Each residence is encouraged to fill the bag with commercially packaged, non-perishable foods items, and leave the bag on its doorstep for the Boy Scouts to pick up by 9a.m.

Catholic Woman’s League First Friday Mass and rosary — Friday, April 1, Mass at 9 a.m. at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 South Redwood Road, West Jordan. Join the Catholic Woman’s League for Mass and the rosary, and then join us for breakfast at a local restaurant.

Catholic Woman’s League Annual Membership Tea — Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at Juan Diego Catholic High School. Please join us and bring a friend. Juan Diego Catholic High School Choral Concert — Thursday, April 7, at 7 p.m. at Saint John the Baptist Church, 300 E. 11800 S., Draper. Free and open to the public.

Juan Diego Catholic High School Dance Concert — April 13-15, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium, 300 E. 11800 S., Draper. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children under 16. Juan Diego students and faculty are free. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Judge Memorial Africa Outreach Club fundraiser — The public is invited to a screening of the documentary "Streetball" Saturday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Judge Memorial High School auditorium, 650 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City. Proceeds will benefit the Judge Memorial service project in Capetown, South Africa this summer.

J.E. Cosgriff Toddler Program Enrollment — Open enrollment for the 2-year-old Toddler Program has begun. Classes are offered Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 8:20-11 a.m. The Toddler Program allows children to explore and discover developmentally appropriate concepts through guided instruction and play. Spring Basketball Clinics — April 18-20 at J.E. Cosgriff Catholic School, 2335 Redondo Ave., Salt Lake City. Former University of Utah basketball players Josh Grant and Jimmy Soto, also a Judge Memorial graduate, will hold two sessions each evening and the clinics are open to boys and girls in grades 2nd through 8th. Presentation at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish — Wednesday April 6, at 7 p.m., Palestinian author/professor Mazin Qumsiyeh, also a teacher and researcher at Bethlehem and Birzeit universities in occupied Palestine will speak at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan. Professor Qumsiyeh previously served on the faculties of Duke and Yale universities in molecular and cyto-genetics. His latest book "Popular Resistance in Palestine—a History of Hope and Empowerment" will be available at the talk.

Youth Ministry — The Office of Youth Ministry and the Office of Hispanic Ministries will host a Mass for the youth of the diocese at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at Saint Ann Parish. The Most Rev. John C. Wester will celebrate. All are invited, but minors must be accompanied by a responsible chaperone or parent. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

Saint Ambrose Parish Lenten Retreat — "The Eucharistic Faith of Mary and the Mystical Humanity of Christ," Saturday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the St. Ambrose Vaughan Center, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with a light lunch to follow at noon. Voluntary donations will be accepted.

Girls on the Run Program — We invite you to see our Girls on the Run in action on Thursdays April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5, 12, in the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic School gym and lower field (weather permitting). We are located at 1385 E. Spring Lane in Salt Lake City. The Girls on the Run is a national positive youth development program that inspires 3rd through 8th grade girls to stay true to themselves by developing health and fitness goals through a 10-week curriculum.

40 Days for Life Pro-Life Midpoint Rally and Vigil — Saturday, March 26, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Scott M. Matheson Courthouse, 450 S. State Street, Salt Lake City. Forty Days for Life is a national effort to end abortion through 40 days of prayer, fasting and community outreach.
