Civic Discussion — “The Nature of Public Discourse” with Fr. Gabriel Mosher, OP on Thursday, Oct. 23, 7 p.m. will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 170 University St. SLC. Please note the change in location; the original venue was St. Ambrose Parish’s social hall. 
All Saints Day — Saturday, Nov. 1. Check your parish for Mass times. Because it falls on a Saturday, this is not a holy day of obligation this year.
All Souls Day — Opening processions at all Masses Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1800 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite saint. Everyone is welcome to bring a framed picture of deceased family members.
First Saturday Devotion — Nov. 1, 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1700 East 9800 South, Sandy. Mass, rosary, potluck breakfast and guest speaker. Topic: “Finding greater empathy with the help of the Mother of Mercy for the souls in Purgatory and for each other.  Why this jubilee year is important.”  Free and open to the public.
All Souls Day — Sunday, Nov. 2. Check your parish for Mass times.
Filipino Mass — Sunday, Nov. 2, 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1065 East 700 South, SLC. Celebrant is Fr. Robin Cruz. Hosted by the Misang Bayan Filipino community. All are welcome.
Funeral Potato Cookoff and Potluck — Sunday, Nov. 2 in St. Olaf Parish’s McNamara Center, 1800 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful, after the 11 a.m. Mass. Participants will vote on their favorite funeral potato dish. Bring potatoes or something else to share.
Holy Hour — Sunday, Nov. 2, 4 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Exposition, the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Fr. Sebastian Chacko will do a Scripture reading and a short homily. Everyone is welcome.
Catholic Funeral Rites and Planning Presentation — Wednesday, Nov. 5, 6 p.m. in St. Olaf Catholic School’s Great Room, 1793 Orchard Dr., Bountiful. Presented by Shayneh Starks of Starks Funeral Parlor. Free and open to the public.
First Friday Mass and Rosary — Friday, Nov. 7, 9 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, West Jordan. Sponsored by the Catholic Woman’s League. Meet for lunch afterward at a nearby restaurant. Everyone welcome. For information, call Elisebeth Price, 801-441-9884.
Dinner and Games — Friday, Nov. 7 at St. Francis  Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Dinner $23 and includes 18 games. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., dinner at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m. Must be 18 to attend.
Eccles Organ Festival Concert — Sunday, Nov. 9, 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Recital by Emma Whitten, associate organist at Christ Cathedral in the Catholic Diocese of Orange County, Calif., featuring an early Baroque and contemporary repertoire. Free admission. The performance will be livestreamed on the festival’s YouTube channel.
Eccles Organ Festival Open Gallery Night — Friday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Enjoy a private tour led by one of the cathedral tour guides, learn about the history and functioning of the organ, and play your favorite music on the cathedral’s Eccles Memorial Organ. St. Carlo Acutis Youth Rally — Saturday, Nov. 15 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 690 S. Cove Dr., Cedar City. Registration 7:30 a.m., programs 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. For youth ages 13-18. There is no cost and lunch will be provided. A consent to participate form must be filled out (available on the diocesan website under Safe Environment) and can be emailed to michael.edwards@dioslc.org or brought the day of the event.

Deaconate Ordination — Friday, Nov. 21, 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Deaconate ordination for seminarians Jose Luis Gomez Diaz and Jaime Zuazo.
Taize Prayer — Friday, Nov. 21, 7 p.m. at  St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. The event lasts for about an hour. Free; all ages are welcome and everyone is encouraged to sing along.
Holiday Boutique — Saturday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic School gymnasium, 9757 South 1700 East, Sandy.
Several pro-life organizations are sponsoring an essay contest for elementary, middle-school and high-school students. Students are invited to write a 500-word essay based on one of two provided  prompts and submit their entry by Nov. 7. Prizes include cash, pro-life gear and  a chance to be published on the Culture of Life Studies Program website. Visit prolifeessay.com for entry guidelines.
