Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God — Monday, Jan. 1. Because the Solemnity of Mary on a Monday this year, it is not observed as a holy day of obligation. The NCCB decree of 13 December 1991, confirmed by the Apostolic See on 04 July 1992, stipulates that whenever 01 January, 15 August, or 01 November falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated.
