87th Annual Spaghetti Dinner — Sunday, Sept. 29, 1-7 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 2864 South 9000 West, Magna. Take outs begin at 11 a.m. Outdoor beverage garden (ID required), Italian cookies and raffle baskets. Adult dine in $15/take out $13; seniors citizens $12; kids 12 and under $8.

San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod Celebration — Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Procession begins at 5 p.m., Mass at 6 p.m., followed by a reception in the lower level of the cathedral.

Nocturnal Adoration for Vocations — Friday, Oct. 4, Saturday, Oct. 5 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. Begins at 8 p.m. with Liturgy of the Hours Evening Prayer  and continues through the Saturday 8 a.m. Mass/Communion service. Men are scheduled at every hour. All are welcome anytime. “Lord, Light My Way” Retreat — Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. The theme for this retreat is discernment. Reducing Gun Violence — Saturday, Oct. 5, 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 Foothill Dr., SLC. Swords to Plowshares: Transforming Guns Into Garden Tools will include music, food and speakers. Also, RAWTOOLS will transform a donated gun into a garden tool. This will also be a springboard for statewide discussions about reducing gun violence in Utah. Everyone is invited; tickets are free but reservations are encouraged. Life Chain — Sunday, Oct. 6, 1 p.m. at the intersection of 10600 South and State Street, Sandy. This annual Knights of Columbus event asks volunteers to stand on the sidewalk near the intersection for one hour of silent prayer. The Knights will provide signs, but everyone is welcome to bring their own.  The event is family-oriented, peaceful and respectful. For information, contact Tina Pisenti, auntieteen@hotmail.com.

Hesburgh Lecture — Monday, Oct. 7, 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish’s Benvegnu Center, 1385 E. Spring Lane, Holladay. Fr. Oliver Williams, C.S.C. director, Notre Dame’s Center for Ethics and Religious Values, will speak on “Catholic Social Thought: A Spirituality for Business Life.” Sponsored by Notre Dame Club of Utah and St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

Theology Discussion — Wednesday, Oct. 9, 8 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center,  170 S. University St., SLC. “Prudence, Freedom, and the Law” by Andrew G. Bjelland, Ph.D., a professor emeritus of philosophy, Seattle University. Free and open to the public.

America Needs Fatima — Saturday, Oct. 12, noon.  Local participants of the nationwide rosary crusade will meet at the southeast corner of 10600 S. State St., Sandy. All are welcome.

CWL Annual Luncheon — Saturday, Oct. 12 at Little America Hotel, 500 S. Main St., SLC. 11 a.m. social hour followed by lunch, silent auction and opportunity drawings and fashion show presented by DeMarillac Formal Attire. Fiesta Night — Wednesday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Benvegnu Center, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. This is a kick off for Men Alive in the Spirit, a new organization that will minister to men by concentrating on their deepest daily concerns. It will begin with a series of seven discussions of what it means to be a husband and father. All men are invited; bring a friend.

Choir Director Needed — Immaculate Conception Church in Copperton is in need of a volunteer choir director and musical accompanists, especially piano/keyboard player and/or guitarist. The choir director is responsible for planning all Mass liturgies, including the weekly 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass, holy day Masses and special occasions.  The director leads the choir during all liturgies, conducts regular practices, and participates as a member of the liturgy committee.
