Evening with the Author — Thursday, Sept. 22, 8:30 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Newman Center, 170 E. University St., SLC. Christopher Ruocchio is the internationally award-winning author of The Sun Eater, a space opera fantasy series, and formerly an editor at Baen Books. His work has also appeared in Marvel Comics. Saints Feast Day — The Utah Filipino community led by Misang Bayan will celebrate the feasts of San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod, the first two Filipino saints, on Sunday, Sept. 25, beginning with a procession at 3 p.m., followed by Mass at 3:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9800 South, 1700 East, Sandy. “Walking Together,” a Salt + Light Media documentary on the historic meetings that took place at the Vatican in March and April 2022 between Pope Francis and delegations of Indigenous Peoples from Canada, is available online at slmedia.org/slplus. The 59-minute documentary offers behind-the-scenes access to the experiences of representatives of the Assembly of First Nations, Métis National Council and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, as they joined their communities and all Indigenous Peoples in receiving Pope Francis’ apology for the role Catholic leaders and representatives played in the abuses committed within Canada’s residential school system.
