Five local churches chosen as pilgrimage sites for Jubilee Year

Family Concert “Peter and the Wolf” — Saturday, Feb. 1, 2 p.m. Children will learn about the pipe organ through Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved tale “Peter and the Wolf” in a special arrangement for organ. This performance, part of the Cathedral Family Concert Series, is intended for children ages 3-10 and families.

First Saturday Devotion – Saturday, Feb. 1, 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1700 East 9800 South, Sandy. Mass, rosary, potluck breakfast and discussion: “The Sacrament of Confession and its importance this Jubilee Year.”

Holy Hour — Sunday, Feb. 2, 4 p.m. St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Exposition, rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus; everyone is welcome.

Filipino Mass — Sunday, Feb. 2, 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1065 East 700 South, SLC. Fr. Carlos R. Guzman, RCJ will preside.

Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship — Sunday, Feb. 2, noon at St. James the Just Parish gymnasium, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden for all boys and girls ages 9-14. Free admission. Contact Jim Hottenroth at 303-667-7008 or jhottenroth@hotmail.com for information.

Bilingual Rosary for Life — Thursday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC.

Dinner and Games — Friday, Feb. 7 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., dinner at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m. Dinner $23; includes 18 games.

Dinner & Game Night with Fr. David — Friday, Feb. 7 at St. James the Just Catholic Church, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden. Doors open for dinner at 6 p.m.; games begin at 7 p.m. Admission: $22 (18 years and older)

Bunco Fundraiser — Saturday, Feb. 8, 2 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish’s Benvegnu Center, 1375 Kings Row, Holladay. $15. This is a Catholic Woman’s League fundraiser.

Eccles Festival Organ Recital — Sunday, Feb. 9, 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Organist: Aaron David Miller, director of music at the House of Hope Presbyterian Church, St. Paul, Minn. Program will feature works by Bach, Mozart, one of Miller’s own and improvisations. Free and open to the public.

End of Life Care — Dr. Natalie King, MD will present “Navigating Serious Illness and the End of Life Care for Catholics” on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 6:30 p.m. in the social hall of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1505 White Pine Canyon Road, Park City. RSVP at StMarysParkCity.com/Summit.

Co-ed Line Dancing with Fr. David — Friday, Feb. 14, 7 p.m. at St. James the Just Catholic Church, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden. Free. All are welcome.

Annual Diocesan Marriage Celebration — Saturday, Feb. 15, 3:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish’s Benvegnu Center and Holy Family Hall, 1375 Spring Lane, Holladay. Enrichment (English and Spanish) 3:30 p.m.; Bishop Oscar A. Solis will preside at a bilingual Mass at 5 p.m. that will include a blessing of marriages and renewal of vows. Dinner follows. Pastoral Center Closed — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, for Presidents’ Day. It will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 8:30 a.m.

Pre-Lenten Parish Mission — on Hope and the Incarnation, Monday, Feb. 24-Wednesday, Feb. 26, 7-8:30 p.m. each evening at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. Presented by MI National Spiritual Assistant Father Thomas Czeck, OFM Conv. Thursday, Feb. 27 there will be an additional Mass followed by a potluck reception for MI members and friends.
