SALT LAKE CITY — Arthur J. Gogan, Jr., 70, died June 5. Gogan was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Winthrop, Mass., to Arthur J. Gogan and Grace M. Bernard Gogan. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1954 until Feb. 1974, retiring with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. His shipboard service included the USS Nautilus and the USS Seawolf. He later volunteered at the Fort Douglas Military Museum from 1991 until 2006. He called the museum his playground. He is survived by his six children, Paul, Mark, Pete, Thomas, Nanette, and Matthew; and nine grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
