Greenport, NY — Bill Melville, 82, passed away on Oct. 9, 2011. Melville was born in New York City on Dec. 31, 1928 to William Randolph and Helen Cowan Melville. He spent 24 years with the Air Reduction Company before joining Kennecott Copper Corporation in 1972. He chaired the planning committee to build Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Park City. He was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 1998. He was a founding member of Utahns for a Just Peace in the Holy Land. Melville is survived by his wife; his three children, William G. Melville Jr., David Melville (Yukie) and Allison Willingham (Preston); nine grandchildren; great-grandson; brother-in-law Joseph Miller. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Agnes Church Greenport, NY. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Park City at a later date.
