On April 23, Bishop Oscar A. Solis visited the Diocese of Salt Lake City Spanish-language lay ecclesial ministry formation program, known as EMAUS II. The participants are from parishes such as Saint Mary in West Haven, Saint Jude Mission in Ephraim, Saint Francis of Assisi in Orem, Saint Thomas Aquinas in Logan, Saint Joseph in Ogden, Saint Therese of the Child Jesus in Midvale, Saint Mary of the Assumption in Park City, Saint Lawrence Mission in Heber, Saint Rose of Lima in Layton and Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Saints Peter and Paul in Salt Lake City. One weekend every month the 65 participants attend a class as part of the four-year intensive curriculum in four main areas: human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral.
During his visit, Bishop Solis acknowledged the participants’ commitment to the faith.
“Thank you very much for your interest in building God’s Kingdom in our diocese,” he said. “I thank you for your good intentions and desire of collaboration, evangelizing and sharing the mission of our Church.”
The EMAUS II program, as well as the lay ecclesial ministry formation program in English, is projected to be completed by the summer of 2019.
