SANDY — The new Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church has been awarded one of Intermountain Contractor’s Best of 2006 Awards, recognizing the Intermountain Region’s most outstanding architectural projects.

Blessed Sacrament Church was named Best Private Project Under $5 Million. Msgr. Robert R. Servatius and Architect Ralf Stanislaw of the Archiplex Group accepted the award Dec. 7 during a breakfast ceremony.

The 12,000 sq. ft. church, built for $2.5 million, is featured in a two-page spread in Intermountain Contractor’s December 2006 Award magazine.

"We are thrilled to be recognized," Msgr. Servatius told the Intermountain Catholic. "The new church represents a lot of work and dedication on the part of our parishioners. A lot of sacrifice went into this project. The church will stand as a symbol of the faith of this community, their willingness to participate, and their generosity."

Intermountain Contractor recognized the building for its "striking architectural design and state-of-the-art acoustics. One of the significant design challenges was to integrate the new church into the campus in a way that complimented the existing buildings while giving the new structure a distinct expression of its own."
