The 3rd-grade students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School had a very exciting mystery guest visit them on Jan. 14. Curtis Ray, meteorologist for Good Morning Utah on ABC4, made a surprise visit. Ray showed the students several interactive satellite websites and held a question-and-answer period. The students’ questions included, "Why is there lightening?" and "What is the difference between freezing rain and sleet?" Ray mentioned that he has always been extremely interested in the weather, beginning in his years at elementary school. In grade school, friends and teachers nicknamed him the "Weatherman" because he always alerted everyone of a potential snow day, he said. He was very excited to learn that the students were studying the weather in the third grade. "Curtis Ray was incredibly interactive with the students in class. It was extremely informative and useful for the students as a learning tool as it brought real-life experience in to the classroom setting," stated Debbie Gallagher, 3rd-grade teacher. Following his time in the classroom, Ray moved to the playground to finish his broadcast.
