Carla Margaret Carrico

July 12, 1931 ~ October 23, 2023

Carla Margaret Carrico passed away peacefully on the morning of October 23, 2023. She was born July 12, 1931 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Paul and Marie Carter. She spent her younger years in Helper, Utah, but ultimately settled in the Salt Lake area.

She graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart Charles on July 19, 1951. Carla was a dedicated wife, mother, grandma, aunt and friend. She dedicated her life to the Catholic faith and was a strong advocate for Catholic school education. She spent a few years working at Auerbach’s and obtained her real estate license in 1978, but her greatest professional achievement was being a member of the American Guild of Organists and playing for Catholic churches and parishes throughout the Salt Lake Valley for over 50 years.

She was a strong and independent woman who overcame two battles with cancer, most recently when she completed treatment and was able to ring the cancer bell on Feb. 1, 2022.

The family would like to express our gratitude for all the wonderful caregivers from Truewood and Applegate who assisted in her care. Carla is survived by her three sons Chuck (Holly), Dennis (Vivian) and Terry (Virginia); eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and longtime daughter-in-law Valerie.

After 15 years, she was able to reunite with her loving husband Charlie. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and numerous loved ones who have passed away prior.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church on November 2, 2023, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
