December 30, 1938 ~ April 12, 2021

Our beloved, “Nana” Carol Ann Dillingham, age 82, died April 12, 2021 in West Valley City. She was born December 30, 1938 in Provo. She was adopted by Alvie and Marie Peterson at the age of 1. She married the love of her life, Donald A. Dillingham, on January 22, 1955. She is survived by her husband of 66 years and children Chuck (Lori) and Lisa (Roger). She was preceded in death by her children Scott, Camie and, at infancy, Ricky. She had eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two on the way.

Family was everything to Carol as she was truly everyone’s “Nana.” Carol grew up in Sugarhouse and North Salt Lake and graduated from West High School with honors. She attended trade tech and the University of Utah to obtain her RN degree, along with many other certifications. Her first job experience was working for her parents at the Richy Theater. Even though she didn’t earn a paycheck, it did teach her the values of being responsible, honest, dependable and devoted to her work. These were some of her main attributes throughout her life and all her endeavors, which she carried on over the years, while working at Granger Medical Clinic and the U of U business office.

Carol was involved in many organizations throughout her life such as Cub Scouts, PTA, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, LDS Relief Society, Jail Ministry for the Sheriff’s organization and so many more. She made a pledge to stand up for what she believed in, by helping people better themselves in going forward, making a difference for a greater outcome. She had so many amazing talents, from crocheting and sewing to playing the organ and piano so eloquently. She truly enjoyed working in her beautiful yard and the fruits of her labor in canning what she grew.

These last few years Carol had endured her illness with great fortitude. She showed unconditional love to everyone she came in contact with. She was spiritual, unbiased and respectful for each person and had a way of making them believe in themselves. Her ever-loving kindness will be missed tremendously. In memory of Carol, one should choose an attribute of hers and live life with this incorporated into their daily lives.

Services for Carol were held April 16 at Valley View Funeral Home; she was later cremated.
