In January, the hallways of St. Marguerite Catholic School in Tooele transform into an art museum, adorned with pieces from the students’ annual art show. Owls, frogs, snails, swans, zebras, lions, birds, snakes and grumpy monkeys are just a few of the highlighted artwork, which display the students’ talents, personalities and imagination. The students are inspired by books, fables, buildings, their families, their pets, the Bible, each other and their art teacher, Ms. Caroline Kunimura. Many of these young artists received awards for their efforts, and two students acquired the top honor of Best in Show: Alex Alizamani for his castle design and Lily Phillippi for her collage horse. The artwork will be available for viewing during Catholic Schools Week at St. Marguerite’s open house on Jan. 31, 6-8 p.m. The open house will showcase not only the artwork but also the great things going on at the school.
