“They who plant kindness gather love.” – Saint Basil
J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School in Salt Lake City has a tradition of selecting a theme for each new school year. The theme chosen exemplifies the faculty, staff, students and families’ vision and goal for the direction of the school.
This year we felt it was important to focus on our communities’ connection to God through love and kindness. We chose Saint Basil’s timeless quote to convey this theme. Through school-wide works of service for the community at large to smaller daily acts of kindness amongst each other, we have felt the kindness we have been planting radiating through our halls as love.
From gathering food for Thanksgiving baskets for families in need, to sharing a Thanksgiving meal with fellow students, to our Cosgriff Carolers singing Christmas songs in classrooms, our students have learned many lessons about how simple kindness brings joy to the hearts of others.
As we move forward in the school year, we look forward to many more opportunities to plant kindness within our community and amongst our neighbors by showing them that we love them and care for them.
At Cosgriff, we are planting kindness, will you join us?
