December 23, 1925 ~ May 13, 2022
Celia Rubulcaba Valdez, 96, passed away in her sleep at home on May 13, 2022. Celia was born at home on December 23, 1925, in Olathe, Colorado to Margarito Rubalcaba and Ysabelita Archuleta. Heaven is a much nicer place with her there; she is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She had a deep abiding love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to feed her family and will be teaching her fellow angels how to make tortillas and green chili. Her family knew that no matter what they did, her love was constant, and she would be there for them.
As a young girl, she would make a stack of tortillas three times a day for her family to feed them when they came in from working in the fields. As she got older, she would work in the onion fields planting, weeding and harvesting. She worked until she was 85 as a bookbinder at Hillers Bookbinding. She had a deep and abiding love for God. She was a faithful Catholic and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She was first married to Johnny Valdez, deceased, and together they had two children: Helen Hansen and little Johnny. After Johnny passed, she married George Valdez, deceased, and had two children: Georgiana (Troy) Callahan and Rebecca (Grant) Eagar. She has also been blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will no doubt be watching over them from heaven.
She was blessed to be part of a large and loving family; she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Frank (Mary), Benjamin, Ralph (Jane), Wilfred (Della) and Paul (Genevieve) and her sisters Virginia (Ben) Medena and Margaret (John) Valdez. She is survived by her sisters Annie (Joe) Aragon, Florence (Lawrence) Arellano and Isabel Aragon.
The family would like to thank Intermountain Home Care and Hospice for their kind and loving support as well as her caregivers Delores and Tina.
