OGDEN — Cheryl Ann Schofield Young, 58, died July 19, after a 19-year courageous battle with Scleroderma. She truly loved life and fought to the end, even being able to attend the Scleroderma Race in June.

Young was born Aug. 24, 1950, to Adam K. and Fern N. Schofield in Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High School, and then from dental assistant school at Hill Air Force Base. She began working for Dr. Dale Tribe, and was later employed by Dr. Grant Brough. She retired due to her illness. In high school, she was a member of the Ogden Eagles Drill Team, where she met the love of her life, Gary Cosmo Young. They were married May 4, 1973, in Ogden, where they spent most of their married life. She was baptized into the Catholic Church May 23, 1999, and they convalidated their marriage at Saint James the Just Parish. She was a member of the Scleroderma Foundation and the Saint James Parish Council. She loved crafts, reading, shopping, and cruises.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; sisters, Sandra (Brent), Innes; and Judy (Dee) Spinden; brother-in-law, Richard (Joyce) Young; stepson, Quin Cosmo (Elizabeth) Young; step-grandchildren, Chayton Brough, Lisa Wheelwright, Theresa Winter, and Danette Ruff; nephew, Trent Spinden, and Goddaughter, Lindsay Everest.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint James the Just Catholic Church.
