Christopher Stewart Maxwell, of Salt Lake City, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at home, after having battled most of his life with epilepsy.
Chris was born on Valentine’s Day in 1962, in Fort Huachuca, Arizona and was raised in El Paso, Texas. There, he met his wife, Sandra, while attending El Paso Community College in 1982. Chris and his wife were married two years later at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Kearns, Utah. Chris loved his wife unconditionally and was proud to have her by his side.
Chris worked at the University of Utah for 29 years. He was a proud Utah Ute, Jazz, Cowboys and UTEP fan of all sporting events, especially basketball. He loved attending basketball games with his daughters and even coached his oldest daughter’s basketball team. Chris always shared how proud he was of his daughters and their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandra; daughters Agatha and Catherine (Matt); two grandchildren Isaiah and Evelyn; his mother, Denise; and four siblings Frederique (David), Olive Marie (Chris) Lane, John (Nikki), Anthony (Cindy). He is preceded in death by his father Donald.
A funeral Mass was celebrated September 18, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Holladay. Committal followed at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been set up to help offset the funeral expenses for the family.
