SALT LAKE CITY — CHRISTUS Saint Joseph Villa hosted their Annual Recreation Therapy Resident/Family Summer Party "A Pirate’s Life," at the Villa Aug. 22. This is a way for the residents to give thanks to the families for their support.

"Recreation Therapy puts on the annual summer party, which is a fun way for us to give back to the families and a fun way for the residents to show off their home," said Haley Haden, recreational therapist. "We serve 500 meals, and the residents get to enjoy having a family get-together and creating some memories.

"How we come up with our themes is we let the residents bring up what they like," said Haden. "They liked the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean," so we went with a pirate theme. We pick themes that are different, unique, and with which everyone can have fun and that to which the residents can relate."

The Recreation Therapy Department puts the party together with a crew of five and many volunteers. The Villa Volunteers help, the administration helps including Gaylen Ewer, executive director, Kathleen Fallon, assistant administrator, Debbe Schuster, director of education, and many family members of the staff also come in and help.
