Claire Stanley, a devoted wife, loving mother and passionate advocate for women in labor and birthing, peacefully passed away on September 16, 2023 at 78 years old in Sandy. She was born in White Plains, New York, and at the age of 13 she relocated to Salt Lake City with her family.

Claire’s life was enriched by her marriage to her high school sweetheart, James Stanley, with whom she shared many beautiful moments. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful children: Dawn Dielmann, Edward Stanley and Heather Flowers. Claire also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandson, Joshua Dielmann, great-grandson Taylor Dielmann and son-in-law David Dielmann.

Claire’s journey in life was marked by her unwavering determination to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She achieved this aspiration by graduating from Weber State College, a testament to her commitment and dedication. Her true calling, however, lay in her passion for women in labor and birthing. Claire initiated numerous programs aimed at assisting expectant mothers, eventually establishing her own successful business in this field.

Claire possessed an adventurous spirit and found immense joy in traveling, exploring the landscapes of both her home country and Europe. She had a gift for finding the beauty in each day, and never let the artistry of a sunrise or sunset go unnoticed.  Her genuine delight in nature’s wonders left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to share these experiences with her.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Claire was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. She enthusiastically participated in various parish and school activities, embodying the spirit of community and service. Claire and her beloved husband, James Stanley, served side by side in Marriage Encounter for many years, exemplifying their enduring commitment to each other and their shared mission of strengthening marriages.

Claire Stanley’s memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion, dedication and love will continue to inspire and guide us all.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Salt Lake City.  Committal will follow at Mt.
