TAYLORSVILLE — The Christian Life program Couples for Christ (CFC) brought local couples together for a day of fellowship and faith formation Sept. 27 at Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
This year the presentations were offered in English by Rodel and Crislyn Santos, Carmela and Leo Panadero, and Romel and Kate Hipolito.
“This program has always been part of my life,” said Grace Gorman, who attended the event with her husband, Rede.
Grace, who is originally from the Philippines, said that when she was younger she used to attend Singles for Christ, a ministry for single men and women aged 21-40 that aims to bring Christ to them and build a Christ-centered society. Now that she is married, she loves attending CFC with her husband, she said.
“Three years ago, my husband became Catholic, and I am just very happy that there is CFC here,” she said. “To have found this program here is amazing because I feel at home, like a piece of my culture is here and now I share it with my husband.”
Couples for Christ “is a Catholic movement intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian family life,” according to the organization’s website. The Couples for Christ Association was established in Manila, Philippines, by 16 married couples belonging to a Catholic Charismatic Renewal prayer group. In 2018 CFC was endorsed as an integral part of the Diocese of Salt Lake City family ministry by Bishop Oscar A. Solis.
