SALT LAKE CITY — The Catholic Woman’s League (CWL) invites all women to attend, "Fall Tapestry" their annual benefit luncheon and fashion show. It will be held Oct. 24, at Little America Hotel, 500 South Main, Salt Lake City. Tickets are $35. The Fashion Show will be presented by the Wight House in Bountiful. Rosalie Mirabelli, CWL president, and Linda Burt, CWL president-elect and benefit luncheon chairwoman would like to extend a personal invitation to all women of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Hundreds of women from around the diocese gather annually to see old friends and to make new ones, to enjoy the fashion show where the models are volunteers from many of the parishes, and where great prizes can be won while supporting a worthy cause. The CWL was established by Bishop Joseph Glass in 1916 to encourage women throughout the diocese to join in the work and prayer of the Church. One of the purposes spelled out in its constitution was to "assist in organized philanthropic efforts that may be for the welfare of the community." The annual luncheon has been the fundraiser to meet this goal. This year’s beneficiaries are Intermountain Therapy Animals and Utahns Against Hunger. The most Rev. George H. Niederauer, then Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, (2001) wrote "Our journey to holiness calls us to respect God’s presence in our world and in each other, especially in those who are the least among us." Bishop Niederauer also quoted Pope Benedict XVI’s words, that we are all to be witnesses to the Good News of the Gospel at home and in the community. As we gather for the luncheon, we are a visible witness to our community. Make your reservations by Oct. 16, by calling Patty Martinez at (801) 571-6952. Ask to be seated with friends or reserve a table and recruit friends. You do not need to be a member to attend but membership information will be available at the door. Your participation is welcomed. Save the date and come and have fun.
