1942 ~ 2021
David Nicholson, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend, died peacefully, surrounded by family on November 26, 2021, age 79. He was born in South Plainfield, New Jersey in 1942, to Paul and Helen Nicholson.
He moved to the Salt Lake Valley in 1956. He graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School and Westminster College. Soon after, he joined the Navy, in which he served on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he met the love of his life, Sally Nicholson, and married her. With her, he had four sons, Christopher, Sean, Kevin and Patrick. He made a life for himself here, working as an accountant for Utah State Hospital, being a devout Catholic and an attentive family man.
Through the years came three grandchildren, Tanner, Ryker and Grace, whom he loved dearly and was always willing to lend a hand to. He was a golfer, a gardener, a parish and choir member. David especially loved music, and most of all, his wife’s cooking. He left behind an incredible family, and a legacy of compassion, love and faith.
Surviving him is his wife of 50 years, Sally; his brother Paul Jr.; his four children, Christopher (Katie), Sean, Kevin (Becky), and Patrick (Frankie); his three grandchildren, Tanner, Ryker and Grace; and countless friends and loved ones he has found on the long dance that was his life. Preceding him in death are his parents, Paul and Helen; Sally’s parents, Bill and Ann Long; and his brother, Ray. A church service and celebration of his life was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, on December 6, 2021. A burial service followed at Mt. Cavalry Cemetery.
