On June 20, members of the Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center went on pilgrimage to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orem and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden. Both churches are local pilgrimage locations for the Jubilee Year, designated by Bishop Oscar A. Solis. Three other churches are also local pilgrimage sites: the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Saint George in St. George, and Notre Dame de Lourdes in Price. In addition, the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Holladay, a cloistered Carmelite monastery, will serve as a pilgrimage site for three days: Wednesday, July 16 and Wednesday-Thursday, Oct. 8-9. The faithful who visit any of these sites may strengthen their faith and receive the special graces granted to pilgrims. Shown at St. Francis of Assisi Parish are, from left, Kersten Dowling, information specialist in the Office of the Chancellor; Jacqueline Rivera, secretary in the Office of Hispanic Ministry; Father Omar Ontiveros, pastor; Maria Cruz Gray, past director of the Hispanic ministry office; and Nell Cline, interim director of the Office of Human Resources.
