SALT LAKE CITY — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is presenting for the first time a two-day Lenten retreat in Spanish for young adults in their 20s and 30s.

“We will start Lent reflecting about the different women in the development of God’s revelation,” said Junuee Castro, director of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, about the retreat.

With the theme “Women Through Salvation History,” participants will focus especially on Mary, “who was chosen to be the mother of Christ, and who was always faithful to her Son, becoming his first disciple,” Castro said.

Presenters for the retreat will be Sister Veronica Fajardo CSC, from Holy Cross Ministries, and Jacky Capella, a certified lay ecclesial minister from the diocese’s EMAUS program.

“Lent is a time that invites us to deepen and to keep challenging ourselves to accept God’s calling, as the greatest Scripture figures did,” Castro said.

The retreat will be held at the Wastach Retreat and Conference Center. Participants will stay at the retreat center overnight.
