Dr. Paul L. Carmichael

PARK CITY — Paul Louis Carmichael, M.D., 79, died Dec. 26.

Carmichael was born July 8, 1927, to Louis Ciamaichela. and Christina Campobassi Ciamaichela. He graduated from St. Louis University Medical School in 1949. He married Pauline Lipsmire Oct. 28, 1950. He also received a Masters in Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the Korean War as a physician in the Second Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. Following the war, he began his practice as an ophthalmologist in Pennsylvania. He was a board certified member of the International College of Surgeons. He retired after 40 years.

He is survived by his wife; eight children, Paul Jr., Park City, Mary K. (Norman) Norstad, Pennsylvania, Col. John (Cindy) Carmichael, currently stationed in Afghanistan, Kevin (Maria) Florida, Joseph (Maureen) Carmichael, Washington, Patricia (Patrick) Hannan, Texas, Robert (Ruth) Carmichael, Florida, and Christopher, Pennsylvania; and 20 grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Park City. Interment will be at a later date at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Pennsylvania.
