SALT LAKE CITY — Edward Lavan Allen, 84, passed away April 14, 2013. Allen was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Bingham Canyon, to Burt and Rachel Roberts Allen. He married Christine Valdez in Ely, Nev., on Dec. 10, 1947. He worked at Kennecott Copper for more than 39 years as a machinist, and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a member of St. Ann Parish, where he was an usher. Allen is survived by wife Christine; children Pamela (Clinton) Morley, Edward V. (Nancy) Allen, Mary Collette (Larry) LaCome, James (Kathy) Allen, Christopher Paul Allen, Patrick (Patti) Allen, and Stephen A. (Laura) Allen; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert L. (Lorraine) Allen. Allen was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Audra; brother Bert Allen; and sisters Leona (George) Strand, Iris (Ivan) Dorsett, Rachel (Sam) Kemp and LaRose (Ignacio) Ortega. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann Catholic Church.
