SALT LAKE CITY — Ernest A. Paíz, 82, passed away Jan. 1, 2012.

Paíz was born Nov. 7, 1929 in Santa Fe, N.M. He married Mary Chavez. He served as a member of the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator while stationed in South Korea during the Korean Conflict.

Paíz is survived by his wife; two sons, Ernest Patrick Paíz, and Freddie Paíz (Susi); two grandchildren and one sister, Alice Oberto.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent's DePaul Catholic Church.
