May 28, 1939 ~ March 28, 2022
Esther Herrera passed peacefully in her bed with loved ones by her side. Our mother, always there for us as we were very blessed to enjoy her last moments here. She was born in Blanco, New Mexico to Alfredo and Ursulita Manzaneres Vallejos May 28, 1939. After her education in Blanco she moved with her brothers to Magna, Utah, where she met Ernaldo Herrera and married in November 1958. They had six children: Pearl (Ken) Lindstrom, Ernie Herrera, Wanda Herrera, Sylvia Bauman, Felicia (Dale) Bench. She was preceded in death by daughter Sheila Herrera Munoz; parents Alfredo and Ursulita; brothers Eddie, Lloyd, Douglas, Joe and Ronald Vallejos; sisters Jane Hazen, Mary Martinez and Martha Herrera; and also a set of twins at an early age.
Mom was known for her hospitality and made sure everyone was taken care of and fed. She loved when company stopped by; she was at her best. She began music with her brothers and sisters at an early age; she recorded and composed two records she was very proud of. Also, they sang in the church choir at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, where she sang up until the last two weeks of her life. They competed in choir competitions throughout Utah and neighboring states and won many competitions.
Esther spent her time with grandkids and church activities. She also loved the spaghetti dinner where she could spend time with her friends.
Esther is survived by her husband of 60+ years, Ernaldo Herrera; Pearl, Ernie, Wanda, Sylvia, Felicia; also brothers Fred Vallejos, Juan Vallejos and Theresa Herrera; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 14, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church [Magna].
She will be missed by all. There are so many family and friends we would like to thank for all their support but not enough time to add all. If I have missed someone, do not be offended; I am sorry. May our mother Esther rest peacefully and we will wait in the hope of rising to be with this special woman.
