SALT LAKE CITY – The annual Catholic Woman’s League fall fashion show/luncheon this year will benefit Ronald McDonald House and Give Me a Chance.

Ronald McDonald House offers a place for families whose children are hospitalized. The lodging is near the hospital and is offered at little or no cost for the family. There are three Ronald McDonald Houses in Salt Lake City.

Give Me a Chance, located in Ogden, teaches low-income women – many of them immigrants – sewing and how to start their own business. It also operates a store stocked with hand-sewn items from these women. Daughter of Charity Sister Maria Nguyen runs Give Me a Chance.

The CWL event, called ‘Fall Tapestry,’ will be held at the Little America Hotel.

"Every year we help two charities," said Patty Martinez, the reservations director for the event.

This year the CWL Women of the Year will be participating as models in the fashion show, which will include styles from trendy to sophisticated, from casual to elegant clothing. The fashions will be presented by Coldwater Creek.

"All the people in the Catholic Woman’s League will have the opportunity to help others for a good cause," said Martinez.

Anyone can help the league by volunteering to join one of their committees.

The Catholic Women’s League was founded in 1906 by Margaret Fletcher. The league encourages its members to work both in their home parish and in the wider community. Members are also concerned with issues on a national and international level.

The league is also collecting gifts for a raffle that will take place that same afternoon as the fashion show. To make a donation, contact Celeste Holtshouser, 801-419-3201. For information or tickets, contact Patty Martinez at 801-571-6952.
