Father Casimir Bernas, OCSO, 94, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024. He was born in 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. He entered the Most Holy Trinity Monastery in Huntsville in 1949, made his solemn profession in 1955 and was ordained a priest in 1958. 

At the monastery Fr. Casimir was the cook and town driver for the Trappist community. He also served for some time as abbot for the community.  After the monastery closed in 2017, he moved to Saint Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City.  In recent months he has been bedridden in long-term care.

A funeral Mass was celebrated August 13, 2024 in the Saint Joseph Villa Chapel. Committal followed at the Monastery of the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Huntsville.
