Filipino Saints Honored

To honor the first two Filipinos to be declared saints by the Catholic Church, Bishop Oscar A. Solis celebrated Mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Sept. 24, with many members of the Catholic Utah Filipino community attending.

Solis celebrated Mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Sept. 24, with many members of the Catholic Utah Filipino community attending. St. Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila was martyred in 1636 and canonized on Oct. 18, 1987; his feast day is Sept. 28. St. Pedro Calungsod de Cebu was martyred in 1668 and canonized on Oct. 21, 2012.
