Flora Mary Quintana
January 19, 1939 ~November 10, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Flora Mary Quintana. She passed away on November 10, 2024 in her home surrounded by the people who loved her most.
Flora was born on January 19, 1939, in Llano de San Juan, New Mexico to Onecimo and Fedencia Medina. Flora was the youngest of seven children. She was proud of where she came from and talked often about her childhood. At the age of 14, she met the love of her life, David J. Quintana. After three years they were married on September 29, 1956. They moved to Taylorsville, Utah, where they raised three children: Marvin, Andy and Pam. The Catholic faith was a big part of her life. She was an active member of St. Martin de Porres Parish for 42 years.
She worked at Abbott for 23 years and retired in 1999. After retirement, she found great joy in the Taylorsville Senior Center. There she was known to go from table to table to visit with everyone before sitting down, so her food and coffee were always cold. She was a social butterfly and if you knew her you knew that you couldn’t just have a quick visit or phone call with her because she loved to talk, talk, talk. She was truly beautiful inside and out. She always looked her very best with the most perfect hair and makeup. She loved to be around her family and her friends. Her sisters were very important to her and many times if you saw Flora, Claudie wasn’t far behind her. Oftentimes they were mistaken as twins. She enjoyed cooking and she loved to host family dinners and holidays in her home which will be missed dearly. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren, and she loved and adored her great-grandchildren.
Flora is survived by her sweet furry companion Ally; sisters Claudie Valdez and Ruth Martinez; children Marvin (Sharie), Andy (Trisha), Pam (Tom); grandchildren Randi (Josh), Jessie (Matt), Christopher (Bailey), Domonic, Chandra; great-grandchildren Madison, Parker, Scarlett, Ares; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, David Jose Quintana; her parents Onecimo and Fedencia Medina; and siblings Pat Medina, Mellie Lopez, Porfiria Mascarenas, Nelson Medina.
A funeral Mass was celebrated November 21, 2024 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Taylorsville. Interment followed at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, West Jordan.
