SUNNYSIDE — Frances Mena, 89, died Jan. 10, 2011. Mena was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Osage, Kan., to Antonio Martinez and Francesica Vasquez Ledesma. The family later moved to Delta, Colo., where she met and married Arthur R. Mena on Dec. 28, 1938. She and Arthur moved to Sunnyside in 1950, where she lived the remainder of her life. He died Dec. 31, 1997. She was cherished by her family. She was an excellent cook and always took great pride in her yard. Later in life, she loved strolling around the block with her walker, visiting with neighbors. She leaves her family with wonderful memories. She is survived by her two sons and daughter: Raul (Rosie) Mena, and their three children Scott (Laurie), Bryan (Lisa), Monica (Jake) Nyland; Robert (Peggy) Mena and their two children Rodney (Laura); Alisha, Irene (Gary) Cahoon and their children Mike (Michelle) Ross, Maria Sanchez, Brad (Jodi) Cahoon, Juli (Tom) Riley, Coni (Michael) Cadieux; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jenny Cruz and Margie Lobato; and sister-in-law Mary Ledesma. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Committal was in Valley Cemetery, Sunnyside, Utah.
