June 25, 1969 ~ March 28, 2023
Heather Anne Harris Leavy passed away on March 28, 2023 after a long illness. She was born at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City on June 25, 1969. Heather was a beautiful, free spirit who loved everyone she met and was never afraid to talk to a new friend. A graduate of Carden Memorial School in Salt Lake City and Judge Memorial Catholic High School, she attended the University of California in Berkeley.
She was well traveled, having been throughout western Europe by the time she was two and a half and through over half of the United States and the Philippines by her mid-twenties. Among her favorite times were those spent with her Grandmother Willamina Harris in Quincy, Massachusetts where she had a free run of the Adams Historic Home; her time as a retailer in Nantucket; and especially the many times in San Francisco visiting her Grandmother Mary Bellis, all her aunts, and playing with her cousin, Mary Alice Laznibat.
Many good times were had in Salt Lake in the company of her “adopted” grandparents Edmund and Marjorie Sperry and their extended family. She loved animals – especially Puppy Pudding and Mommy Cat, hiking, skiing, scuba diving, off-road vehicles and camping.
Heather is survived by her husband Robert Leavy, her mother Grace Sperry, her aunts – Mary Jane Laznibat, her Godmother Shelah Hockman, Antonia Bellis Warden, Katherine Hamburger and her uncle and Godfather Henry Bellis as well as her half-brother, Samuel Harris. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank E. Harris.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Knights of Columbus Salt Lake chapter for the Pregnancy Resource Center.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2315 E. Redondo Avenue, Salt Lake City, on April 21, 2023 at 11 a.m.
